BYD Pakistan is set to introduce its Shark 6 Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) in Pakistan on July 25.
The Shark 6 was globally launched on May 14, 2024, in Mexico, with an international price range of USD 50,000–60,000. It was BYD’s first pickup introduced outside China and has since entered markets in Australia, Brazil, the Philippines, and South Africa.
According to BYD, the Shark 6 is equipped with a 1.5-liter hybrid-special turbo engine paired with the BYD Blade Battery, producing up to 321 kW of power and 650 Nm of torque. Features include Hill Hold Control, Vehicle Dynamic Control, Hill Descent Control, and Auto Hold.
Although the official price has not been announced, the vehicle is expected to compete with traditional fuel-powered double-cabin pickups such as the Toyota Hilux Revo, Isuzu D-Max, and JAC T9 Hunter. These models typically range between PKR 10 million and PKR 20 million. The Shark 6 may be priced higher due to its hybrid technology.
According to PakWheels.com, the estimated price could range from PKR 19 million to PKR 20 million. Experts believe that the PHEV offers superior features and performance compared to conventional models.
Previously, Chinese vehicles faced skepticism in Pakistan, but brands like Haval, BYD, and Changan are gaining popularity due to performance, features, affordability, and comfort.
Currently, BYD offers two models in Pakistan: the Atto 3 (PKR 9 million) and the Seal (PKR 15–17 million).
