A woman arrested in Karachi on charges of house theft turned out to be an award recipient. Defense Police revealed that the arrested housemaid had become a millionaire by drugging household members with sedative-laced tea and looting homes.
According to police officials, the arrested maid has been identified as Farzana Kausar alias Mehreen. She had stolen jewelry worth Rs. 6.5 million from a bungalow and fled Karachi. A few days ago, Ferozabad Police arrested her on theft charges.
Police said that during the robbery, the accused drugged the residents by giving them sedative-laced green tea, rendering them unconscious. During interrogation, significant revelations came to light.
According to the police, Mehreen has served three years in jail in Islamabad. During her imprisonment, she received an award from former Prime Minister Imran Khan for her sewing work in prison.
Mehreen further told police that she is originally from Faisalabad and has multiple cases registered against her in Lahore as well. In December 2024, a man named Shaukat Mahmood filed a case at Defense Police Station in Karachi, stating that Mehreen drugged his family with sedative tea, looted gold jewelry, cash, and other valuables, and then fled.
Investigating officers stated that the total value of the theft exceeded Rs. 6.5 million. Although she was recently arrested by Ferozabad Police for a separate theft, the plaintiffs recognized her upon receiving information, leading Defense Police to also list her arrest in their case.
The accused is also under arrest in three theft cases at Ferozabad Police Station and has committed robberies worth millions in Clifton and Gizri areas as well.
