The Capital Development Authority (CDA), for some strange reasons best known to itself, allegedly built a sculpture showing two golden hands holding two balls. However, public disapproval and trolling on the internet made them realize that it wasn’t such a good idea, as they dismantled it on Tuesday with heavy machinery.
The controversial monument, placed at a roundabout in Sector D-12 on Iran Avenue, attracted netizens’ attention right after it was unveiled. The response was brutal with memes and jokes; however, some users criticized the structure, questioning the purpose of such a suggestive and inappropriate thing for public display.
The administration tried to conceal the sculpture with a robe amid public backlash, but later closed the site to public visitors and dispatched heavy machinery to demolish the structure.
CDA officials claimed that this sculpture was installed by a private company without official approval.
