Hania Amir’s Indian Punjabi film “Sardaar Ji 3” created a sensation at the box office in Pakistan on its very first day of release and even surpassed Salman Khan’s film “Sultan” in earnings, as reported by national media on Sunday.
According to details, despite political tensions and boycott calls in India, the Indian Punjabi film “Sardaar Ji 3” set a record in Pakistan on its first day of release and became the highest-grossing Indian film on its first day in the country.
The film was released worldwide, including in Pakistan, on June 27, and according to industry reports, it earned approximately 45 million rupees (5 million US dollars) on the first day alone.
Due to diplomatic tensions between India and Pakistan following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, the film could not be released in India; however, despite this, it received a warm welcome from audiences in Pakistani cinemas.
The film broke the record of Salman Khan’s 2016 blockbuster film “Sultan,” which made 35 million rupees (125 thousand US dollars) on its first day, the highest first-day earning for any Indian film in Pakistan.
The debate over the inclusion of actress Hania Amir in the film and the political reactions in India further increased the interest of Pakistani audiences, which motivated them to watch the film.
