Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has contacted Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) for adopting a joint strategy against the federal budget 2025-26 in parliament.
According to a private TV report, PTI leader Asad Qaiser met PPP leader Raja Pervaiz Ashraf at Parliament House. In the meeting, the PTI senior leader told Ashraf that he had heard the PPP’s statements about the boycott of the budget, so if the PPP is serious about the issue, it must join hands with PTI for boycotting the voting for the budget both in the National Assembly and the Senate.
Pervaiz Ashraf assured Qaiser that he would place the PTI’s offer before party chairman Bilawal Bhutto today, the report added.
It should be noted that this meeting took place at a time when the federal budget is being discussed in Parliament, and criticism from various opposition parties has intensified.
It should also be noted that the Shahbaz Sharif government is not in a position to pass the budget without the PPP. If the PPP boycotts it, not only will the budget not be passed, but the government will also lose its majority.
Political analysts are giving great importance to this meeting and contact and are expressing the possibility that if the PTI agrees to make Bilawal Bhutto the prime minister, the two parties can together overthrow the Shahbaz Sharif government through a vote of no confidence and form their government.
