A 10-year-old child was killed while his father sustained injuries when a cylinder blast at the Hyderabad railway depot on Monday.
According to police and rescue officials, the explosion took place while an LPG cylinder was being filled at a filling station located inside the garage of the railway depot.
Police confirmed that the deceased child has been identified as Umar Hussain, aged 10. His body was shifted to a local hospital for medico-legal formalities.
Rescue sources added that the child died on the spot, while his father sustained serious injuries in the explosion and was immediately rushed to Hyderabad Civil Hospital for emergency treatment.
Initial findings suggest that the blast occurred due to overpressure during gas refilling, but a detailed investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident in interior Sindh, a man killed his mother for giving him his meal late in Khairpur district.
According to details, the son, who was identified as Pappan Panhwar, shot his 65-year-old mother, Zarina Panhwar, and escaped from the scene.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) immediately took notice of the incident and directed relevant police officials to arrest the suspect on a priority basis.
After the directives of SSP, various police teams raided different locations and arrested the accused Pappan with the help of the latest technology.
Police also recovered the weapon used in the murder. Police, after registering a case of murder, started an investigation.
