The federal government has reportedly allocated Rs. 1 billion, including Rs. 22.21 billion for the Overseas Scholarship Program for MS/MPhil leading to PhD in the United States, UK and other countries around the world, under the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) 2025–26.
According to local media reports, this program, administered by the Higher Education Commission (HEC), aims to send talented Pakistani students to leading international universities for higher education in key fields.
It is regarded as one of Pakistan’s primary initiatives to develop a highly educated academic and research workforce capable of contributing to the country’s scientific, technological, and socio-economic development.
Meanwhile, the federal government has allocated Rs. 20 billion for this purpose, including Rs. 1.97 billion for the Pak-UK Education Gateway Initiative and Rs. 4.06 billion for the Fulbright Scholarship Support Program (HEC-USAID).
The federal budget for the fiscal year 2025–26 will be presented in full tomorrow.
