Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert regarding temperature rise and heatwave during Eidul Adha holidays, from June 6-9, 2025.
Punjab Relief Commissioner Nabeel Javed has instructed commissioners and deputy commissioners across the province to remain alert. Other related departments, including the district administration, have also been instructed to stay on alert, in view of the expected heat wave.
Similarly, Health, Transport, Local Government, Rescue 1122 and other relevant departments have also been informed of the heatwave prediction, the PDMA Spokesperson said.
PDMA also said that there is a possibility of an unusual increase in temperature in the next few days. The temperature is expected to be 5 to 7 degrees Celsius higher than normal during the day until June 12.
According to the orders of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, an alert has been issued to the district administration, PDMA Director General said on Thursday, adding that the administration should ensure the supply of clean water in public places during this time.
First aid for heatstroke should also be ensured in hospitals and mobile health units, the DG issued instructions.
PDMA DG has also issued instructions for the general public to remain safe from the effects of intense heat during holidays.
Public will also have to be careful due to the increase in the intensity of heat, DG PDMA said.
He also said that on the occasion of Eidul Adha, citizens should be careful about their food as well.
During heat and heatwave, eat meat and food according to the weather, he said, adding that working in the afternoon should be avoided.
Wear light-colored clothes and keep your head covered, PDMA DG said. Take special care of children and the elderly and avoid unnecessary travel, he added.
