Banks across Pakistan will remain closed for 4 days next week on the occasion of Eidul Adha from June 6 to 9, 2025.
“The State Bank of Pakistan will remain closed from June 06 to June 09, 2025 (Friday to Monday) being public holidays on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha,” the regulator said in a notice on Tuesday.
Earlier, the federal government announced a four-day public holiday on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha 2025. The official holiday period will be from Friday, June 6 to Monday, June 9, 2025.
Eidul Adha, one of the two major Islamic festivals alongside Eid al-Fitr, is observed on the 10th of Dhu al-Hijjah—the final month of the Islamic lunar calendar. The celebrations traditionally extend over four days, including the three subsequent Tashreeq days.
Also known as “Greater Eid” or Eid II, Eidul Adha is marked by the performance of the Eid prayer in the morning, followed by the ritual sacrifice, or qurbani (udhiyah), of sheep or other livestock.
