Sybil Sohail has written her name in he history book by becoming the first Pakistani woman to win a gold medal at the Asian Weightlifting Masters Championship, held in Doha, Qatar.
The championship, which took place from May 27 to 31, featured competitors from across the continent. Sohail’s outstanding performance not only brought pride to her community but also marked a significant moment of national achievement.
Her victory represents a landmark in Pakistan’s weightlifting history. Notably, she is also among the first three Pakistani women to ever compete in a weightlifting event at the Asian level.
Last year, Sybil Sohail and her sister Veronika Sohail won gold medals at the Weightlifting Championship in South Africa.
Competing in the 52 kg and 57 kg categories respectively, the sisters excelled in squat, bench press, deadlift, and overall weight, securing top honors and elevating Pakistan’s stature in the sport.
