Temperatures in Karachi reached 39 degrees Celsius on Sunday as the southern port city continued to endure a heatwave, with hot and humid conditions expected to persist.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, elevated humidity levels could cause the heat index to rise as high as 49 degrees Celsius. As of now, the actual temperature stands at 36 degrees Celsius, with a perceived temperature of 38 degrees.
Winds are currently blowing from the west at a speed of 14 kilometers per hour, and humidity levels have dropped to below 34 percent.
Experts have advised residents to limit outdoor activities during peak heat hours, particularly between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
On Friday, the temperature peaked at 41 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature ranged between 29 and 31 degrees. Humidity levels reached approximately 55 percent in the evening, with prevailing winds from the west and southwest.
