Pakistan performed brilliantly at the Asian Masters Weightlifting Championships 2025, winning a total of 8 gold medals along with 1 silver and 2 bronze medals, a significant achievement at the international level.
Pakistan added two more gold medals to its tally on the final day of the event in Doha. Furqan Anwar took the top honours in the 89kg category (age 30+), lifting a total of 315kg—143kg in the snatch and 172kg in the clean and jerk. His impressive effort brought home another gold medal.
Earlier in the day, Umar Rasool Lone won the 89kg category (age group 35+), lifting a total of 276kg with 121kg in the snatch and 155kg in the clean and jerk, also securing a gold medal for Pakistan.
The event also witnessed a proud moment for the Rathore family. Usman Amjad Rathore won the bronze medal in the 109 kg (age group 35+) category, lifting a total of 282 kg.
Interestingly, his father, Maqsood Amjad Rathore, had already won a gold medal for Pakistan in the championship, making it a memorable tournament for the family.
