A student’s family, including a police official, allegedly assaulted a female teacher on the premises of a private school in the Jamshed Quarters area of Karachi, police said on Wednesday.
According to the FIR registered at the Jamshed Quarters Police Station by the teacher, the incident stemmed from a disciplinary action in which the student was briefly made to stand as a consequence for arriving late.
Two days later, the student’s parents and maternal uncle visited the school. The uncle, who identified himself as the Station House Officer (SHO) of Kalakot, allegedly assaulted the teacher inside the principal’s office, along with the student and the parents.
The FIR further says that other female teachers who intervened were also manhandled.
CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced, showing the suspects attacking the teacher inside the school building.
Police confirmed that one of the individuals involved is a serving police official and that departmental proceedings have been initiated against him. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) East Dr. Farrukh Raza has taken notice of the incident, and a formal investigation is underway.
Video evidence reportedly captures the suspects physically assaulting the teacher on school grounds.
