A young boy committed suicide in India after being accused of stealing chips by a shopkeeper.
According to media reports, this incident took place in the Paschim Medinipur district of the state of West Bengal, where a 7th-grade student took the extreme step of ending his life.
The name of the 12-year-old boy was Krishandu Das, whom the shopkeeper insulted by accusing him of stealing chips packets.
According to reports, the owner of a sweet shop claimed that three packets of chips flew from his shop in the air, which were picked up by a child nearby, after which the shopkeeper accused the boy of stealing, scolded him and forced him to apologize by holding his ear, in addition to forcing him to pay Rs 15.
In this regard, the police said that after learning about the incident, the boy’s mother also scolded and slapped him, after which the mother said that the child also tried to convince the shopkeeper and said that he would buy a packet of chips, but when the shopkeeper did not respond, he took a packet and left.
According to the police, the child drank insecticide after being accused of theft and insulted, and was taken to the hospital, but unfortunately, he died.
The family said that before his death, the child also wrote a letter to his mother in which he gave all the details and said that mother, I am not a thief and I did not steal the packet of chips.
The child further wrote in his letter: “These are my last words, forgive me for committing suicide.”
According to the police, the child’s body has been taken into custody and sent for post-mortem, while the shopkeeper has been absconding since the incident.
