Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has threatened to besiege K-Electric over excessive billing by the electricity provider in Karachi.
Addressing a press conference at Idara Noor-ul-Haq in Karachi on Saturday, JI chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman announced plans to lay siege to K-Electric. He also announced that the party would stage a demonstration on May 31, 2025, to express solidarity with the Palestinian people.
Rehman voiced strong criticism of the ongoing unscheduled load-shedding in Karachi, stating that the city’s residents are fed up with the persistent power outages.
He accused K-Electric of paying kickbacks to all political parties to avail benefits. He demanded government reduce electricity charges.
Rehman said that during the census, the population of Karachi was not counted correctly and showed fewer numbers.
He appealed all the political parties to take part in demonstration being staged in support of Palestinians. JI Amir said that government should address all issues being faced by people of Balochistan.
He said that the government should take effective steps to bring the wealthy people into the tax net. He asked to government to probe the North Waziristan incident of drone attack on innocent children.
