The Narendra Modi government of India has suspended trade and educational ties with Türkiye as a consequence of Turkey’s unconditional support for Pakistan, as reported by Indian media.
According to details, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs has confirmed the suspension of trade and educational relations with Türkiye. This decision was made in light of Türkiye’s unconditional support for Pakistan during the recent Pakistan-India tensions.
Actions have also been taken against Turkish companies. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs, adhering to Narendra Modi’s Hindutva policy, stated that it is their policy to review ties with countries that question India’s sovereignty.
Previously, the Modi government had also revoked the security clearance of a Turkish company operating at Indian airports. A campaign to boycott Turkish apples has also been launched in India.
According to Indian media, following Modi’s ideology, traders in Pune are actively promoting this campaign, demanding a boycott of Turkish apples.
It is noteworthy that Türkiye had strongly supported Pakistan during the recent Pakistan-India tensions, which was not well received by Indians and caused outrage.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had stated, “We always stand with you. The brotherhood between Türkiye and Pakistan is a blessing few nations enjoy.”
This month, tensions between Pakistan and India were at their peak. On May 7, using the Pahalgam attack as a pretext, the Indian army attacked Pakistan, to which the Pakistani army gave a strong response. However, a ceasefire has since been established between the two countries.
