The special Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Karachi has declined to hear the request to dismiss the case against Armaghan and his father Kamran Asghar Qureshi for possessing illegal weapons.
According to details, the case regarding Armaghan and his father Kamran Asghar Qureshi’s illegal weapons possession was heard in the Karachi Special Anti-Terrorism Court. The request was filed by the defendants’ lawyer, Khurram Abbas Awan.
The court stated that dismissing the case was beyond its jurisdiction, as its authority was limited to remand, and instructed the lawyer to file the request in the relevant court. A case has been filed against Armaghan and his father Kamran Asghar Qureshi for possessing illegal weapons.
Background of the case:
It is noteworthy that Deputy Inspector General (DIG) CIA, Muqaddas Haider, in a press conference on February 14, had stated that a resident of Defence, Mustafa Amir, had gone missing on January 6. The missing person’s mother had filed a case the next day, and after a ransom call was received, the case was transferred to the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC).
On February 9, the AVCC raided the suspect’s residence, during which Armaghan fired at the police, resulting in injuries to DSP AVCC Ahsan Zulfiqar and his guard.
The suspect was arrested after several hours of effort, and during the investigation, shocking revelations surfaced about Armaghan and his father, including drug trafficking, illegal call centers, financial fraud with foreigners, and illegal weapons possession.
Later, the police also arrested the suspect’s father, Kamran Asghar Qureshi, in connection with drug trafficking and illegal weapons possession. Both father and son are facing ongoing court cases.
