A resident of Karachi’s Gulzar-e-Hijri area in Sohrab Goth has reportedly fallen victim to a honey trap, with the kidnappers demanding a ransom of Rs. 10 million from his family for his release.
The abducted man, Abdullah, who resided in the Machar Colony of Gulzar-e-Hijri and worked in the scrap business, went missing after telling his family he was traveling to Punjab. Before leaving, Abdullah had provided his family with both his and a friend’s phone number.
According to the FIR filed by the victim’s family at Sohrab Goth Police Station, Abdullah’s mobile phone became unreachable after his departure.
Subsequently, the family received a message from another number claiming he had been kidnapped and demanding Rs. 10 million for his release.
The complainant, Aslam Khan, informed the police that the abductors asked for a video confirmation after the ransom amount was collected.
Police have registered a case under kidnapping-for-ransom charges and transferred the investigation to the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) for further inquiry.
