In Islamabad, a transgender person was allegedly gang-raped at gunpoint after being locked inside a house, as reported by national media.
According to details, the attackers also looted cash, gold, and a mobile phone from the victim at gunpoint. Based on the victim’s complaint, a case has been registered against the suspects at the Shalimar Police Station.
The transgender individual was taken from F-10 Markaz to a house located in G-13/G-14 by a person under the pretense of attending a wedding ceremony, according to police.
The transgender victim stated that upon reaching the house, the man, along with an accomplice, began beating her and then sexually assaulted her. The victim told the police that she was gang-raped and also subjected to physical violence.
The suspects looted gold jewelry weighing half a tola (worth approximately Rs 125,000), an Infinix Note 30 mobile phone (worth around Rs 45,000), and Rs 17,000 in cash.
Notably, transgender individuals may have different gender identities from the ones assigned to them at birth, and while this makes their experiences and journeys unique, it does not make them any less human.
Like everyone else, they have the right to live with dignity, free from violence and discrimination. Ensuring their safety, especially from heinous acts like rape, is not just about justice, but about recognizing their inherent worth and humanity.
