The federal government has announced plans to construct an international airport in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), addressing a long-standing demand from overseas Pakistanis.
This initiative aims to alleviate travel challenges faced by over 5 million local residents and 2.5 million overseas Kashmiris, while also fostering tourism and economic development in the region.
Support for this project has come from various quarters, including British Members of Parliament of Kashmiri descent, who have written to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif advocating for the airport’s construction.
In line with this, the Airports Authority has issued a public advertisement seeking consultancy firms to participate in the tender process, adhering to established procedures.
