Deeksha Sharma, a popular movie critic on YouTube, is facing intense backlash after sharing her review of the 2025 Hindi-dubbed Tamil sports drama Test.
Directed by S. Sashikanth, the film, which stars R. Madhavan, Nayanthara, Siddharth, and Meera Jasmine, made its direct-to-streaming debut on Netflix on April 4, 2025.
What’s the review?
In her review, Deeksha Sharma expressed disappointment with the film, highlighting its confusing screenplay, weak character development, and lack of coherence. She criticized the movie for failing to live up to the expectations set by its star-studded cast and the promising concept.
The film, which features a struggling cricketer, a ‘crazy’ scientist creating cheaper fuel, and a teacher turned kidnapper, was described by Sharma as “slow and boring” with a “disjointed” narrative. She rated it 1.5 out of 5 stars, citing poor writing and wasted performances.
However, Deeksha’s review has not been well-received by many viewers. Some fans of the movie took to social media to voice their disapproval, calling her review unfair and inaccurate. One YouTube viewer wrote, “Such a great movie. Best Content. Don’t know why you are shaming it?” Another comment read, “Plz don’t believe her review, the movie is 10/10.”
The backlash escalated with more people questioning her credibility, with one commenter advising, “Tu review ka dhandha band kar de. Tera kaam nahi hai. Aur koi kaam dekh.” (Translation: “Please shut down your review videos. It’s not your business. Find something else to do.”)
Some also accused her of not actually watching the film and promoting movies like Sikandar for monetary gain. A particularly passionate fan added, “I just watched this movie. The movie is very good with four stars. It’s based on a realistic concept. Critics like you shouldn’t review films at all. Your video has proven you promote movies like ‘Sikandar’ for money.”
Deeksha Sharma has yet to respond to the intense criticism, but this incident has certainly sparked a larger conversation about the responsibility of critics and the power of fan communities in shaping public opinion about films.
