PTI leader Azam Swati has stated that false news attributed to Imran Khan was aired about him, as reported by national media on Sunday.
In a statement, Azam Swati said that in December 2022, Imran Khan told him that he wanted to talk to the Army Chief. After consultation with the PTI founder, he tried to establish contact through the Army Chief’s teacher, and also attempted to talk to the Army Chief through Arif Alvi.
Azam Swati said the PTI founder told him that he would talk to the establishment along with Arif Alvi and other companions. According to him, Imran Khan said there was no need to tell anyone whom you are contacting and where, if they want to talk, I have been ready since day one.
He stated that a vlogger asks where Azam Swati was on November 26, I was in Attock Jail. I stand with Ali Amin; he is the PTI founder’s Chief Minister.
Azam Swati has been no stranger to controversies throughout his political career, often making headlines for both his statements and confrontations with state institutions. One of the most notable controversies erupted in 2022 when Swati was arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) over a series of tweets deemed offensive towards the military leadership.
The arrest sparked a national debate over freedom of speech, political victimization, and the boundaries of criticism in Pakistan’s charged political environment. Swati claimed he was tortured during custody, an allegation that further intensified public outcry and human rights concerns.
