The Punjab government has unveiled a new initiative to provide free public transport to students, senior citizens, and individuals with disabilities across the province, aiming to simplify and reduce travel expenses for these groups.
During the 24th provincial cabinet meeting, presided over by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the decision was finalized to introduce the public welfare program. The cabinet also discussed the implementation of transport cards designed specifically for students.
Maryam Nawaz instructed relevant departments to take swift action to lower poultry prices. She sanctioned the creation of specialized investigation units to address sexual assault cases and emphasized the importance of proactive measures to prevent such crimes.

To enhance regional connectivity, the cabinet approved the construction of airports in Bhakkar and Bahawalnagar.
Moreover, plans to establish an airstrip in Bhakkar for air ambulance services are underway, along with preliminary discussions regarding the potential launch of a Punjab airline.
