A local court in Karachi has declared the marriage of Dua Zehra and Zaheer Ahmed valid, rejecting a petition that sought to declare their marriage certificate fake.
The petition was filed by Dua Zehra herself in an attempt to annul her marriage.
During the hearing, the judicial magistrate stated that the marriage is valid and advised that any petition for annulment should be taken to the relevant legal forum.
Dua Zehra gained widespread media attention last year when she married Zaheer Ahmed of her own free will after meeting him on an online gaming platform.
Controversy arose when she was declared a minor, leading authorities to shift her to a shelter home. Later, she was allowed to move back to her home.
The latest legal proceedings stemmed from Dua Zehra’s attempt to annul her marriage through a petition filed by her father. However, the court ruled in favor of the marriage’s validity and advised that the appropriate legal platform should be approached for its dissolution if required.
