The prosecution department has expressed dissatisfaction over the police investigation in the case of Mustafa Amir, who was abducted and later murdered by a friend.
According to a report by national media citing sources on Saturday, due to dissatisfaction with the investigation, the prosecution department has requested a progress report from the investigating officer.
The report further states that the prosecution department has asked the investigating officer to submit a report on the progress of the four cases registered against Armaghan and provide details on the investigation conducted with the suspects so far.
The prosecution department also demanded information on how many witnesses’ statements have been recorded in the case and whether forensic examinations, such as DNA and fingerprint analysis, have been initiated.
It is worth noting that further revelations had previously emerged during the investigation of Mustafa’s abduction and murder case. According to investigating authorities, a police officer allegedly facilitated Armaghan. The officer is posted at Gizri police station and was summoned for investigation.
Officials stated that call data records showed contact between the police officer and Armaghan. The suspect, Armaghan, had previously subjected a girl to violence before Mustafa’s case, and the officer was involved in not taking action against Armaghan regarding the assault on the girl.
DIG South Asad Raza stated that action has been taken against the allegedly involved officer, but ASI Nadeem has not been taken into custody by the AVCC.
He further said that ASI Nadeem was the duty officer at Gizri police station at the time of the incident, and an SP has been assigned to conduct an inquiry against him. Once the inquiry is completed, appropriate action will be taken against the officer.
