Sindh Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has declared that this year, 500,000 solar panels will be distributed free of charge to qualifying households.
“These solar panels will be provided to residents in regions facing challenges with electricity access,” he stated during the inauguration of an electricity supply project in Abdullah Rind Goth, Manghopir Town on Thursday.
“The vision of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is to guarantee electricity for everyone.”
He noted that the distribution of 200,000 solar systems has already commenced, and the initiative to distribute an additional 500,000 solar systems will begin this year, focusing on areas where electricity services are insufficient.
Hussain indicated that residents of Karachi would gain access to affordable electricity, with efforts underway to regularize villages. He underscored that the PPP Chairman Bilawal is committed to ensuring property rights for women within households.
He stressed the significance of industries but asserted that ensuring electricity access for citizens remains “paramount,” characterizing this initiative as a “journey of goodness and light.”
The minister also mentioned plans for the solar park to provide technical training to local residents, thereby creating job opportunities.
Additionally, the provincial government is in the process of developing a 400-megawatt solar park, which is expected to be completed by 2025.
