The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has announced the connection of Pakistan to the Africa-1 Submarine Cable to improve the digital and telecom system in Pakistan.
According to a PTCL spokesperson, this submarine cable with modern capabilities has been connected to the PTCL Exchange, which will help in providing high-speed and stable internet in the country.
PTCL has entered into a formal agreement to join the Africa-1 Cable System Consortium, which aims to strengthen Pakistan’s connections with global digital centers and develop the country’s telecommunications infrastructure on modern lines.
This submarine cable system is 10,000 kilometers long and includes the latest technologies. Through this cable, Pakistan will be connected to strategically important places including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Sudan, and Algeria, which will further improve international connectivity.
This initiative by PTCL will boost the digital economy in Pakistan and pave the way for further development in the Internet sector.
