In a groundbreaking development, the Sindh government declared that the Amal Umer Act will be applicable to all hospitals. This means that the provincial government will cover the treatment costs for all victims of accidents and gunshot wounds without the need for a police certificate.
Addressing the media, Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon revealed that the Sindh Assembly has passed the Amal Umer Act, which now applies to all hospitals. “Anyone suffering from a gunshot wound or an accident can seek treatment at a private hospital,” he stated.
Under the Amal Umer Act, emergency cases can be treated at any private hospital, with expenses borne by the Sindh government, and no police certificate required.
However, the minister mentioned that the Sindh governor had raised objections to the bill passed by the provincial assembly. “The cabinet has rejected all objections, and the bills will be reintroduced in the assembly on Monday. Some bills even included MQM’s input. The governor’s objections are respected, but this is democracy, and the cabinet has a different stance,” he concluded.
