With the addition of 160 electric buses to the Islamabad Electric Bus Service, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has announced that all 13 routes of the service will soon be operational in the federal capital.
In the initial phase, 30 electric buses were deployed on two routes: NUST to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) and PIMS to Bari Imam. The CDA has set a flat fare of Rs50 per passenger. To support operations, charging points have been installed on an emergency basis at the Convention Centre and H-9.
CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa stressed the importance of reducing reliance on subsidies to maintain the service’s quality. He also announced the upcoming ground-breaking ceremony for the Zero Point charging station and the full-scale launch of operations for all 13 routes, incorporating a total of 160 electric buses.
