“Plankton: The Movie”, an exciting new film starring SpongeBob SquarePants’ most iconic villain, is coming to Netflix this March.
The movie is part of a partnership between Netflix and Nickelodeon, which has produced several spin-offs from the beloved franchise. One of those is Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie, which will also be arriving soon. These projects explore the depth of secondary characters in the SpongeBob SquarePants universe, giving fans a fresh perspective on fan-favorites.
In this animated feature, directed by Dave Needham, Plankton’s world is turned upside down when his grand scheme to take over the world falls apart. Alongside his loyal wife and sidekick Karen—a water-resistant computer—Plankton runs the Chum Bucket restaurant. Ever since the debut of SpongeBob SquarePants, Plankton has been fixated on stealing the secret recipe for the Krusty Krab’s legendary burger, the most cherished snack in Bikini Bottom.
The movie will be released globally on Netflix on March 7th, 2025, as confirmed by USA Today in January 2025.
