Recent test series between India and Australia, South Africa’s clash with Pakistan, and Zimbabwe’s battle against Afghanistan have led to mjaor shifts in the latest ICC player rankings.
One of the most notable movers is Scott Boland, the Player of the Match in the Sydney Test, who made an impressive 29-place leap to break into the top 10, tying for the ninth spot with India’s Ravindra Jadeja.
England’s Joe Root remains the world’s top-ranked Test batsman, while Pakistan’s captain Babar Azam surged five places to 12th. Mohammad Rizwan also made gains, improving two spots to 19th, and Shan Masood enjoyed a substantial rise, climbing 12 places to 45th in the Test batsmen rankings.
In the T20I rankings, Australia’s Travis Head maintained his top position among batsmen, with Babar Azam advancing to sixth. However, Pakistan has yet to place any bowlers in the top 10 T20I rankings.
India’s Jasprit Bumrah made history by achieving the highest-ever ICC Ranking rating for an Indian bowler at 907 points before the final Test, and he improved that score by one point after taking two wickets in the first innings. Unfortunately, a back spasm ruled him out of bowling in the second innings, limiting his role to batting.
Meanwhile, the second Test between South Africa and Pakistan turned into a batter’s paradise, with Player of the Match Ryan Rickelton leading the way. His remarkable double century (259) helped him jump 48 places to No. 55 in the batting rankings.
Afghanistan’s historic series win over Zimbabwe also saw several players make notable advances. Rahmat Shah, a centurion, climbed 26 places to No. 26, while debutant Ismat Alam entered the rankings at joint No. 82, showcasing their strong performances in the batting charts.
