The Indian film industry (Bollywood) has unveiled the trailer for Sky Force, featuring Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya in the lead roles.
According to Indian media, the trailer showcases intense destruction and bloodshed, portraying an exaggerated narrative of the 1965 Indo-Pakistani air war. The film, which highlights India’s retaliatory strike on Pakistan’s Sargodha airbase, promotes an aggressive storyline designed to stoke anti-Pakistan sentiments.
The much-hyped trailer, which was released yesterday, has already garnered more than 28.7 million views. The film is set to take the audience through a gripping account of India’s so-called “first airstrike” on Pakistan.
While the portrayal of this event has been met with mixed reactions, it is important to note that Pakistan has consistently opposed such narratives on international forums, emphasizing the need for historical accuracy.
Akshay Kumar, a seasoned Bollywood star with decades of experience, takes on the role of IAF officer KO Ahuja. Known for his patriotic roles, Akshay has once again stepped into the shoes of a character that represents India’s so-called valor and strength.
On the other hand, debutant Veer Pahariya portrays Captain T Vijaya, a daredevil risk-taker, often regarded as reckless by his fellow officers. According to Indian Express, the contrast between Kumar’s established presence and Pahariya’s fresh appearance adds a new dynamic to the film.
While the film shows India striking back after a supposed attack by Pakistan, this narrative is fiercely contested by Pakistan, which has always maintained that it was India that initiated hostilities. Pakistan continues to challenge this portrayal on global platforms, highlighting the importance of an unbiased retelling of events.
