The City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi, under the directives of City Traffic Officer (CTO) Beenish Fatima, empowered women through the ‘Women on Wheels Program,’ training 1,258 female learners in 2024.
The CTP Driving School trained a total of 2,796 citizens last year, including 1,258 women and 1,538 men. Additionally, 112 women received training to ride bikes and scooters as part of the Women on Wheels initiative.
According to a report by Pak Observer on Monday, the CTP purchased four new bikes and scooters and appointed female instructors for the first time at the driving school to enhance this program.
CTO Rawalpindi also introduced a modern driving simulator at the CTP Headquarters, a first for the institution. The simulator features essential components such as a gear, clutch, accelerator, steering wheel, and brake, providing learners with a comprehensive road-driving experience.
The technology allows trainees to practice driving in various scenarios without risk, including emergency situations, while simultaneously imparting traffic rules and best practices. CTO Beenish Fatima highlighted the CTP’s focus on leveraging technology to provide top-notch training and ensure safe driving practices among citizens.
