In an effort to strengthen Pakistan’s performance in the T20 format, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided the formation of a specialized “strike force” led by former all-rounder Abdul Razzaq. The move comes after Pakistan’s disappointing exit from the T20 World Cup 2024, where they were eliminated in the first round following defeats to the United States and India.
According to PCB sources, the primary goal of this newly established strike force is to develop a powerful and aggressive team that can excel in the fast-paced T20 format. The strike force will focus on honing the skills necessary for success in short-format cricket, with an emphasis on big-hitting, fast-paced play, and aggressive strategies.
To kick off the initiative, the PCB will select an initial batch of 50 young players who will be part of this high-performance training program. Abdul Razzaq, known for his explosive batting and versatile all-round capabilities, will be responsible for guiding these players. His training regimen will focus on empowering the youngsters with the skills required to hit long sixes, play fast-paced cricket, and adapt to the ever-evolving demands of T20 matches.
The formation of this strike force is seen as a response to the underperformance of Pakistan’s national T20 squad, which struggled in the 2024 World Cup. The PCB is aiming to rebuild the team with a more aggressive mindset in order to improve their chances in future international T20 tournaments.
Abdul Razzaq’s experience and leadership in the limited-overs format will be crucial in mentoring the new generation of cricketers, with hopes that the strike force can become a key element in Pakistan’s cricketing success in the T20 arena.
