Renowned Kashmiri singer Sakeena Reshi has announced her departure from the music industry, citing her faith in Islam as the driving force behind her decision.
Social media is currently flooded with comparisons of her appearance, showing a stark contrast between her previous style—marked by vibrant outfits—and her current look, which includes wearing a hijab.
Sources suggest that Reshi’s decision to leave the music world stems from her deep sense of accountability to God and concerns for her afterlife. The 25-year-old singer, originally from a middle-class family in Bandipora, Jammu and Kashmir, was raised by a poet father. Following the death of her mother, Sakeena left school after matriculating to assume family responsibilities.
Initially involved in martial arts, she later shifted her focus to music, learning various instruments and aspiring to make her mark in the entertainment industry.
Her rapid rise to fame at weddings and public events, however, came to a sudden halt when she announced her departure. In a video shared on social media, Sakeena, now dressed in a burqa, appears alongside a local cleric who confirms her decision to repent and withdraw from her online presence.
Her viral hit “Hey Hey Waisi Ye Yaaran Hai Tarpauns” earned her two million followers on YouTube within just ten days, solidifying her place as a social media sensation. However, her latest decision to quit has left many fans in disbelief.
