In 2024, many highly anticipated films failed to meet expectations at the box office. However, Pushpa 2 was a standout, delivering from day one. Building on the success of the original, the film’s team launched an extensive promotional campaign aimed at the loyal fanbase of the first installment.
According to a report by Indian Express, on December 5, after several delays and controversies, Pushpa 2: The Rule hit theatres, and the audience responded enthusiastically. The film grossed an impressive Rs 282.91 crore on its opening day globally, surpassing records set by RRR and Baahubali.
Despite a slight drop in domestic collections on day two, the overall figures pushed the film past the Rs 400 crore mark. By day three, Pushpa 2 had earned Rs 115 crore domestically, likely surpassing Rs 600 crore worldwide in just three days.
Remarkably, the film’s success was fueled by the Hindi market, contributing Rs 73.5 crore of the Rs 115 crore domestic box office total. Over the first three days, the Hindi version made up 52% of the Rs 383 crore earned in India, with the Telugu version bringing in Rs 151.05 crore.
Pushpa 2 has already broken multiple records, including the biggest opening for an Indian film and the largest opening for a Hindi film. With Sunday numbers expected to push these records further, the film is on track to hit Rs 1000 crore in lifetime earnings faster than anticipated.
Directed by Sukumar, it stars Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil, with a score by Devi Sri Prasad. Made on a budget of Rs 400 crore, the film’s box office performance has been nothing short of extraordinary.
