PTI’s claims regarding the fatalities of workers during the final demonstration have transcended national boundaries and garnered international attention, prompting widespread coverage by global media outlets.
In a significant crackdown by security forces in Pakistan’s capital late at night, PTI protesters were halted. The precise death toll during the demonstration remains unclear.
However, PTI members and supporters assert that 300 protesters lost their lives in the confrontations, alleging that police and military forces fired directly on them.
Numerous social media users have shared images and videos of the raid, utilizing the hashtag #IslamabadMassacre. It is important to note that not all of these visuals are authentic; several images have been generated or manipulated using AI, and some have been presented out of context.
One social media post claimed that more than 100 individuals were killed and that their bodies were being concealed. This post included several videos and a viral image that purportedly depicted Jinnah Avenue in Islamabad stained with blood following the clashes. These images have circulated among PTI supporters.
However, a fact-check by German media indicates that the image claiming to show Jinnah Avenue covered in blood does not accurately represent the location. The actual Jinnah Avenue is a broad road with two lanes in each direction, flanked by small plantations. The photo in question has been falsely portrayed using AI manipulation.
