Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunications, Shaza Fatima Khwaja, held a meeting on Wednesday with a TikTok delegation led by its Director of Public Policy, Emir Gelen.
According to a report by APP, as cited by Pak Observer, she urged TikTok to utilize its platform for imparting education and teaching various skills during the discussion.
“Basic education and diverse skills can be effectively delivered through TikTok, and the Ministry of IT will fully support initiatives in this direction,” she stated.
The meeting, also attended by Secretary IT Zarrar Hasham Khan, focused on mutual interests, particularly the promotion of quality and productive content on social media platforms.
The TikTok team briefed the minister on their initiatives in Pakistan and highlighted their upcoming programs. In response, Shaza Fatima emphasized the importance of ensuring quality content for TikTok’s vast user base in Pakistan.
The delegation assured their commitment to prioritizing meaningful and educational content, expressing readiness to collaborate with the Ministry of IT & Telecom to achieve these goals.
