Anmol Bishnoi, younger brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, was arrested last week in California, USA, following a two-year manhunt.
His arrest came after the Mumbai Police issued a non-bailable warrant for his arrest.
As per details, the US Immigration Department discovered Bishnoi had been traveling using forged documents. He reportedly fled to the United States in May 2022 under the alias “Bhanu,” entering the country with a fake passport and a fabricated reference letter.
The arrest was the result of coordinated efforts between Indian and US authorities. The FBI held discussions with Indian agencies, including the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Mumbai Police, to evaluate the case and discuss the extradition process.
Indian media reported that the FBI reviewed evidence with Indian officials to determine the next steps for Bishnoi’s deportation. However, the US State Department has declined to comment, referring jurisdictional matters to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
Anmol Bishnoi is a major figure in the Bishnoi crime syndicate, known for its involvement in violent crimes, extortion, and arms smuggling. He is implicated in at least 18 criminal cases, including murders, shootings, and other violent attacks.
