The President of the United States, Joe Biden, and President-elect Donald Trump will meet on Wednesday at the Oval Office, following an invitation extended by the U.S. President.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said in a statement on Saturday that the President-elect would meet President Joe Biden in the Oval Office. Donald Trump will officially take office on January 20th next year.
After defeating the current Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, in the presidential election, President-elect Donald Trump has become a historic leader of the country.
President Joe Biden had initially sought re-election, but after facing significant criticism of his leadership, along with a contentious debate within his own party, he decided to withdraw from the presidential race, which proved to be a disastrous move for his political career.
Biden spoke after leaving a church service in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, where he had traveled for the weekend. The president did not respond to questions about what he would say to Trump.
President-elect Donald Trump also confirmed to the media, saying, “I’m going to see him on Wednesday,” when asked whether he viewed the President-elect as a threat to democracy.
While neither President has disclosed details about their conversation, it is clear that both leaders are likely to discuss the political situation in the country, as well as exchange good wishes.
