The government announced on Tuesday an increase in the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs 5 per liter, effective October 16, 2024, due to fluctuations in global oil prices.
Meanwhile, the price of petrol remains unchanged at Rs 247.03 per liter.
The diesel price has been adjusted from Rs 246.29 to Rs 251.29 per liter, reflecting the Rs 5 increase.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Ministry of Finance reported that the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has determined the revised consumer prices for petroleum products based on recent international market trends.
These adjustments will apply to the next two-week period starting October 16, 2024.
The price of HSD has decreased by Rs36.34 and petrol by Rs28.57 per liter over the past five fortnights.
Earlier, the prices of petrol and HSD had witnessed an increase of Rs17.44 and Rs15.74 per liter, respectively in the month of July.
