Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is set to stage mass protests on October 4 at D-Chowk in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and other parts of Punjab .
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has vowed to reach D-Chowk, no matter the obstacles.
In a video message, he said that the public would overcome fear to defend the constitution and uphold the rule of law.
He reiterated that their struggle is for genuine freedom, vowing to continue until their rights are restored. Gandapur criticized the federal and Punjab governments for their violent tactics, asserting their determination to exercise constitutional rights.
Will there be public holiday on Oct 4?
Regarding October 4, commuters in Rawalpindi and Islamabad are experiencing difficulties due to road closures, as authorities have sealed the red zone and barricaded major routes to prevent PTI protests scheduled for Friday, October 4.
With the disruptions, students and parents are anticipating a public holiday in schools across both cities. Officials are considering declaring a holiday to reduce the impact on residents. However, no such decision has been taken yet.
PTI has also planned rallies in Mianwali, Faisalabad, and Bahawalpur, with another major gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore on October 5. The Punjab government has imposed Section 144, leading to a curfew-like situation to limit public gatherings.
