Founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, Imran Khan, has reiterated his stance on the Israel-Palestine conflict, emphasizing that he believes genocide is occurring in Palestine.
Speaking with the media at Adiala Jail, Khan addressed recent claims suggesting that he is a strong proponent of relations with Israel, citing an Israeli newspaper article that purportedly praises him.
“It seems these people don’t understand English,” he remarked, highlighting that the article discussed his position on dialogue rather than endorsing Israel.
Khan stressed, “My stance on Israel remains the same: there is genocide happening in Palestine. A ceasefire must be established first; only then can dialogue occur. We need to pursue a two-state solution before engaging in talks.”
He also criticized Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent statement urging unity for national development, stating, “Shehbaz, listen: peace comes through justice. However, the elections were stolen, and party workers were imprisoned following the events of May 9, with no investigations taking place. Without justice, there can be no peace. What peace can come from the amendments you plan to make?”
Khan further remarked that the current government resembles “Yahya Khan Part Two,” and claimed that PTI has held more public gatherings than any other party in Pakistan’s history. He described how the Lahore gathering was permitted just a day before, only to face roadblocks, stating, “Our supporters walk to our rallies; we don’t offer them food. Prior to the rally, orders were issued to detain 500 PTI members, and they expect us to conclude the event by 6 PM.”
In a warning, Khan expressed concern over the government’s intentions, alleging that they aim to dismantle the judiciary and impose an undeclared martial law. “They are introducing amendments that even a dictator would not attempt,” he declared, announcing plans for a street movement against these changes.
