PESHAWAR: A clash between Pakistani security forces and the Afghan Taliban at the Pak-Afghan border has resulted in the deaths of sixteen Afghan Taliban soldiers, state-run PTV reported, citing military sources.
According to the report, on the morning of September 7, the Afghan Taliban initiated unprovoked heavy weapons fire on Pakistani check posts from the Plosin area, with the exchange continuing until the evening of September 8 and 9.
The Pakistan Army responded effectively, inflicting significant losses on the Afghan Taliban. So far, reports indicate that 16 Afghan Taliban fighters, including two commanders, have been killed, while 27 others were injured. Moreover, two Afghan Taliban tanks were destroyed in the operation.
As per reports, this is not the first time Afghan forces have opened fire on Pakistani troops stationed at the border.
Pakistan has previously expressed concerns to Kabul about such incidents, accusing the Afghan Taliban not only of facilitating militant activities within Pakistan but also of openly targeting Pakistani forces along the international border.
