In an interview with Architectural Digest, Sonam shared how her home is a collection of treasures from her travels across India, marking a new chapter in her life as a woman, collector, and mother. The apartment, initially an investment property, captivated her with its high ceilings and expansive space. Sonam transformed it into a maximalist masterpiece, infusing it with warmth and character.
Sonam and her husband, Anand Ahuja, envisioned the home as a place closer to family, especially with their new addition. Overwhelmed by the modern architecture, Sonam embraced a nostalgic, hand-painted design to reflect her roots. Her living room, described as the heart of her home, is a testament to her love for layering and Indian aesthetics.
Inspired by her maternal grandmother and her aunt, renowned interior designer Kavita Singh, Sonam’s home is a tapestry of tradition and modernity. She also credited fresco artist Vikas Soni for his contributions, highlighting a majestic jharokha in her bedroom, inspired by Cher’s design.
