KARACHI: Prominent businessman Zulfiqar Ahmed, owner of Paracha Textiles, Meezan Oil, and Cola Next, was allegedly abducted from the Maripur Road area of Karachi on Thursday.
After a meeting, Zulfiqar Ahmed and his companion Qaisar were traveling to Clifton when they were stopped by eight people in a double-cabin car, according to his family.
After forcing them into their car, the kidnappers took off. Qaisar was freed after a period, but Ahmed is still missing.
The family is having trouble getting the police to file a First Information Report (FIR). The day following the kidnapping, they made an attempt to register a police report, but the police had not yet done so.
The family of Zulfiqar has petitioned the court to ensure his safe return. The Federal Ministry of Interior, the Sindh Home Department, and the Sindh Inspector General of Police have all been called by the court to provide a response by July 30. According to the appeal, which was submitted by Zulfiqar’s wife, it is still unclear where he is.
