Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar informed Priya Kumari’s parents that their daughter is still alive and that authorities have evidence to support this claim.
Priya Kumari, at the age of seven, vanished three years ago while serving free cold drinks at a sabeel during Ashura in Sangrar.
On Saturday, her parents held a sit-in outside the Sindh Chief Minister’s House. In response, a government delegation met with the family and assured them of full cooperation. DIG Javed Jiskani briefed them on the efforts of a joint investigation team working to recover the missing girl.
Minister Lanjar acknowledged that the case had been challenging but expressed renewed hope that the Sindh police were making progress. “Priya Kumari is alive, and we have evidence,” the minister stated following the meeting.
He also promised that the investigation team would soon make a breakthrough.
Earlier on Friday, police allegedly used batons to disperse civil society activists protesting at Teen Talwar in Clifton, who were demanding the recovery of Priya Kumari. The activists criticized the Sindh government and police for their failure to locate the missing girl.
