KARACHI: The Met Department predicts that Karachi’s weather will stay extremely hot all day, with highs of 39°C, which will feel like 43°C. The lack of sea breezes is producing severe humidity, which makes things even more miserable for locals.
Currently, the temperature in the city is 34°C, but with high humidity levels at 66%, it feels more like 43°C. The Met Department noted that the absence of sea breezes has worsened the situation, maintaining the intense heat.
Over the last 24 hours, the minimum temperature recorded was 30.5°C. The high humidity is significantly increasing the perceived heat, as indicated by the Met Office.
However, there is a potential relief for Karachi residents. The Met Department has forecasted the possibility of light rain and drizzle later this evening or tonight, which may provide some respite from the scorching heat.
Citizens are advised to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun during peak hours.
Elsewhere in Pakistan, the weather is forecast to remain hot and humid over the next 24 hours. However, the Met Department has predicted rain in some districts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan.
