Ten terrorists were killed on Monday after attempting to force their way into Bannu Cantonment, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
A statement issued by ISPR on Tuesday noted that eight army personnel were martyred in the attack. It credited the swift action of security forces with preventing further destruction and loss of life.
The ISPR praised the security forces’ response as a valiant effort reflecting the military’s commitment to combating terrorism. It also identified the Hafiz Gul Bahadur Group, currently operating from Afghanistan, as responsible for the attack, noting their history of similar actions. This group is among several terror outfits based in Afghanistan, supported by Kabul.
Details from the ISPR about Monday’s attack reveal that the terrorists attempted to enter Bannu Cantonment but were thwarted by security forces. The attackers then detonated an explosives-laden vehicle against the outer wall, resulting in the martyrdom of eight troops and causing damage to nearby infrastructure.
The security forces eliminated all ten terrorists during the retaliatory action and subsequent clearance operation. The fallen soldiers included Naib Subedar Muhammad Shehzad, Hawaldar Zill-e-Hussain, Hawaldar Shehzad Ahmed, Lance Naik Sabz Ali, and sepoys Ashfaq Hussain, Subhan Majeed, Imtiaz Khan, and Arsalan Aslam.
