In a similar incident in April, another matric student attempted to commit suicide at the BISE office after repeatedly failing his exams. He was fortunately prevented from jumping off the building by bystanders. A BISE spokesperson stated that the student had asked the board officials to pass him or he would resort to drastic measures. The student had consistently failed his Mathematics and English exams in grades 9 and 10 and did not pass the English supplementary exam in 2019.
